“Family vacation. Paris or Bali?” Misa asked, trying to think of places that her son hadn’t yet been. They were in the den watching a movie. Misa sat on the couch with Rahmeek curled up to her left and Chase curled up to the right of her.

“Bali!” Chase yelled at the same time that Rahmeek called out Paris.

Misa smiled. “We’ll have to let Aaliyah make the deciding vote when she gets in, and then I’ll book the flights tomorrow. As soon as you guys are out of school for the summer, we’re going to take off and stay away for seven days.”

Misa always doted on her children, but it intensified after Philly’s death. She just wanted to make sure that her kids were okay. She had always made her own money, but she thanked God that Philly left her in the financial position to be able to take as much time off as she needed to and not have to think twice about it. She was going to make the effort to give her children the most amazing summer that they’d ever had. She still missed Philly, and she knew they did too. All they had was each other, and they had to somehow get past the pain.

The movie went off, and the boys kissed their mother before going upstairs to bed. Misa felt guilty for picking up her phone and contemplating texting Big Tyme. He had kept his word and was giving her space as promised. She found herself missing him, and the guilt started to set in. How could she be missing Philly and Big Tyme at the same time? Misa had been in a relationship for so long that being alone felt odd, but she refused to be one of those women that didn’t know how to function without a man. Maybe being alone for a while would be healthy and good for her, but that was hard when a man as fine as Big Tyme was declaring his love for her every chance he got. Not to mention the sex was out of this world. They already shared a bond and knew everything about each other. How could it get any better than that?

Before she could text him, Aaliyah entered the house. “Hey Ma,” she stated as she walked over towards the couch.

“Bali or Paris?” Misa asked, and Aaliyah pondered for a few seconds. “Paris, why?”

Misa smiled. “I asked the boys, and of course they chose different places. Rahmeek will be happy, and I’ll have to hear Chase’s mouth. Maybe we can do Bali for his birthday.”

Aaliyah smiled. Misa was such a good mother. She loved her more than life itself. “Ma, I have to tell you something.”

“What’s good?” Misa asked as her breath caught in her throat. She prayed that Aaliyah wasn’t pregnant. Not yet. She needed to graduate from college first and live a little more.

“I saw Anika in the mall, and I beat her up.”

Misa raised one eyebrow. On one hand, she was relieved that was the news and not something worse.
